needs and barriers to hearing care, particularly underserved older adults in at-risk communities and vulnerable populations, which have been overlooked by traditional hearing care, including mobility, transportation, financial resources and health literacy. Mobility and transportation represent significant barriers for low-income older adults, which decreases social integration. Many older adults have functional limitations and rely on mobility devices. Most older adults live on a fixed income and nearly 3\/4 are no longer in the work force with few opportunities for additional income. Low education levels, along with older age and low income, place older adults at risk for inadequate health literacy. Low levels of health literacy are a significant barrier to navigating hearing care through traditional channels.<\/p><p>As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Access HEARS depends on financial contributions from individuals and organizations who believe in our mission that all older adults should have access to the tools they need to age well.
